If you thought you were going to get the chance to miss Gordon Ramsay once this season of Hell’s Kitchen finished, you thought wrong. FOX has ordered a new season of Kitchen Nightmares, where Ramsay travels to struggling restaurants and tries to whip the staff into shape and make the restaurant profitable. Kitchen Nightmares will return in the fall.
Speaking of Hell’s Kitchen, FOX taped two seasons back-to-back, which means we’ll be seeing Ramsay berate and mentor aspiring chefs through the summer. Season five finishes on May 13 and season six is supposed to premiere only a few weeks later.
FOX is also still developing Cook Off, a live cooking special to be hosted by Ramsay. Also in the pipeline is a fourth series, the details of which have not been released. If it’s anything like his UK series The F Word, I’ll be sure to watch it. A kinder, gentler Gordon Ramsay is something American audiences should see.
If they keep on this path, eventually FOX will become the “All American Idol and Gordon Ramsay, All The Time” network. Perhaps if Simon Cowell decides to walk away, Ramsay can become the new AI judge. He may not know much about singing but that doesn’t stop Randy Jackson, and the introduction of a cooking element will surely create buzz. Kitchen Idol, anyone?
